On May 17-18, 2011, a delegation of representatives of Polish business visited Kaliningrad with a two-day trade mission. The visit was organized by the Regional Economic Development Agency in cooperation with the Polish association "Employers of the Pomeranian Voivodship".
The first day of the Polish guests' stay started with an introductory seminar in the Agency's conference hall, general information about the specifics of doing business in the region was presented. Presentations to the participants were made by the Minister for Industrial Policy, Business Development and Trade of the Kaliningrad Region, D.A. Chemakin, Head of the Department of Investments of the Ministry of Economy, A.S. Tolmachev, Adviser-Consul, Head of the Trade and Investment Promotion Division of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kaliningrad, Z. Sverchinsky, Director for Programme Work and Projects of the Regional Economic Development Agency, A.Yu. Ignatiev. The presentations were followed by a short questions and answers session, at which Polish businessmen had an opportunity to receive clarifications on various aspects of doing business in the Kaliningrad region that were of interest to them.
At the end of the seminar, a contact exchange was held where representatives of the Polish and Kaliningrad businesses discussed cooperation opportunities in direct communication. By agreement with the Polish side, the Kaliningrad business at this meeting was represented by construction and consulting companies, as well as business associations (M.P. Fomicheva, Executive Director of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of the Kaliningrad Region, Yu.A. Zubovskaya, Head of Department for external economic cooperation and coordination of work with entrepreneurs of the Kaliningrad Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
On the morning of May 18, some members of the Polish delegation traveled to Kaliningrad enterprises to conduct pre-planned meetings with their leadership.
Based on the results of the visit, at the meeting of the heads of the Regional Economic Development Agency and the Association of Employers of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, a decision was made to continue and expand the practice of organizing similar business missions in the future.
