
Project manager of Kaliningrad Regional Economic Development Agency Petr Shopin took part in an international seminar "Mobility in the labor market and ways to implement an innovative type of youth employment" held in St. Petersburg on 22 November 2017.
The seminar was held in the framework of “Mobility makes opportunity” project.
The main organisers of the seminar were Karelian Resource Center of NGO's, Saint Petersburg State University of Technology and Design and Regional Council of South Karelia (Finland).
The seminar consisted of two sessions:
In addition, between the sessions, the seminar participants took part in a round table, with the main topics of discussion being "Innovative employment", "Labor motivation", "Entrepreneurship" and "Mobility in the labor market".
The work of the round table was organized in 3 stages: general discussion of topics was followed by work in groups to find possible solutions to the problems of youth unemployment and presentations of the results of the discussion.
Practical component of the seminar was presented, inter alia, by speeches of representatives of the business community of St. Petersburg. For instance, director and founder of IMPERIALS group of companies Valery Starkov described the main stages of writing a mock-up strategy for a startup.
Students Annika and Samuli Ikonen from Lappeenranta (Finland) in their report "4H model in promoting entrepreneurship" presented an example of the Finnish experience of solving the problems related to youth unemployment.
A student of the Marijampol? College (Lithuania), Deauville Vieraitute, gave a presentation on "Entrepreneurship as a way to combat unemployment among young people" and described her experience in doing business.
Anna Polozova, a 4-th year student majoring in "Accounting, Analysis and Audit" at Kaliningrad State Technical University, made a report on the situation in Kaliningrad. In her presentation, she outlined the main factors that determine the current level of youth unemployment in the region, and described the measures taken by the authorities and the business community to address the problems in this field.
Implementation of activities within the project "Mobility makes opportunity" will continue in the territory of the countries of the Baltic Sea Region until September 2018.
