The main objective of the project is to facilitate initiatives for developing and strengthening the cycling culture and infrastructure carried out by both authorities and citizens in several cities of Northwest Russia (St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Petrozavodsk and Pskov) as well as to promote other citizens-friendly transport solutions such as electric and hybrid cars and public transport.
Nordic countries have the great experience in developing the concept of green transport, first of all, bicycles and the cycling infrastructure with the deep involvement of the civil society. The exchange of the knowledge and best practices between Nordic countries with focus on Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden on attracting authorities, civil society and active public leaders to the problem of wider use of bicycles in the transport systems of the cities will help to implement more effective and sustainable projects on developing cycling infrastructure, reducing CO2 emissions in the cities of Russia and improving the population health in general.
To enhance knowledge of representatives of authorities of the Northwest Russian cities and local urban planners by promoting Nordic experience in developing and implementing GREEN MOBILITY programmes as an important part of the cities’ transport policy.
To stimulate and launch joint actions, mobility campaigns and awareness raising events during European Mobility Week promoting sustainable mobility culture among businesses and citizens while inspiring, supporting and connecting professionals and activists.
To transfer experience of Nordic cities, primarily ?rhus, in using eco-friendly transport infrastructure as an additional tool for creating jobs to the Northwest Russian cities
